Feast day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary (1207-1231)

Elizabeth was the daughter of the king of Hungary, who would marry and give birth to three children.  After her husband died, in 1228 Elizabeth joined the Secular Franciscan Order, spending the remaining years of her life caring for the poor in a hospital that she founded in honor of St. Francis.  She died before her 24th birthday.
